Camille Sors
A dreamy, creative musician, Camille Sors doesn't have feet on the ground except when it comes to playing the cello. A graduate of the Guildhall School of Music in London, Camille met Hélène Dautry on her return to France and completed her studies at the Ecole Normale Alfred Cortot, where she was awarded the Albert Roussel full scholarship.
An avid gut string player, she is currently finishing her studies in Historical Performance at the CNSMD in Lyon and benefiting from the guidance of Elena Andreyev and Emmanuel Balssa. Willing to broaden her horizons for the cello in 17th-century repertoire, Camille is currently taking part in a collective research workshop on the dispositione di gorgia, with the aim of studying, translating and putting into practice several didactic sources on the ornamentation of early Italian Seicento singing music.
Camille has performed in solo and chamber music recitals in France, Switzerland, Belgium, Poland, Germany and England, and in ensembles including the Orchestre de l'Opéra royal de Versailles, Les Ombres, Le Caravansérail and the "Jeune Orchestre de Saintes". She has recently performed in Rochebonne Festival, Ambronay Festival with Les Ombres and at the French Radio with Le Caravansérail for a radio project. In 2024, she won the first prize at the International Early Music Competition in Loire Valley (CIMA) with Tra Noi ensemble and performed live on France Musique radio.
Camille holds an agrégation in music. Keen to pass on her knowledge, her teaching career has taken her from the Parisian suburbs to Guatemala, where she was a teacher with the El sonido de Balanyá association.
She is generously supported by the Société Générale C'est vous l'avenir Foundation for 2023-2024.
